When exactly do I pay?
Never before you've seen your homepage — that part is free. Once you've seen it and want the full site, it's $250 to start the build and $250 once the finished site is in front of you and you're happy with it. Then $99 a month from the day it goes live.
Is the first $250 refundable?
Not once I've started building, no. It pays for work I've already done rather than for the finished site, and a week spent on your website is a week I can't sell to anyone else. The one exception: if I don't deliver what we agreed, you get it back. Up until you pay it, walking away costs you nothing.
What does "unlimited changes" actually mean?
Anything already on the site: wording, prices, hours, phone numbers, photos, adding a service, dropping one, swapping a page around, adding a town to your service area. As many as you want, as often as you want. I ask one thing — send them one at a time rather than in a list of forty, and each one's done within two working days.
What isn't included in that?
New machinery, not new words. An online store, customer accounts, a booking system, anything that takes money or logins — those are new features rather than changes, and they either cost more per month or need quoting. Booking is the one I do as standard, at $39 a month. Ask me about anything else and I'll give you a straight number or tell you it's not worth it.
Why $99 when a website builder is $30?
Because with a builder you're the one making the changes at nine at night, and with me you send a text and it's done. That's the whole difference. If you're happy learning the software and doing it yourself, honestly go and do that — you'll save money. The $99 buys a person, not a product.
How long does it take?
About a week for the free homepage after you send the form, and about a week again for the finished site once you've said go. If it's going to be longer than that because you're mid-season or I'm mid-exams, I'll tell you the date up front rather than let you wonder.
The mock-up is really free?
Yes. I build one simple homepage from your answers before you've paid me anything. If you don't want it, you say no and we're done — I keep the work, you keep your money.
Can I have changes made to the mock-up?
Not before you've committed, no. The free one is a single version built from your answers — deliberately simple, enough to show you the direction and the standard of the work. Changes, wording, colours and polish are all part of the build, and they start once the first $250 is in. Otherwise I'd be redesigning pages for people who were never going to hire me.
What happens if I stop paying?
You get an email and thirty days. After that the site comes offline, because the hosting was being paid for out of the monthly. Nothing is deleted and nothing is held over you — if you change your mind later, it goes back up.
Can I just own the site instead?
Yes — $995 any time, and I hand over every file and the whole repository. Total to own one outright is $1,500, which is about what this site would cost you anywhere else. Most people would rather pay the $99 and never think about it again, but the door's open either way.
Who owns the domain?
You do, always, whatever else happens. It goes in an account in your name, and if you ever want it moved elsewhere I do that within a few working days at no charge. The domain is your business's address — it was never mine to hold.
What's the Google listing?
The box with your hours, phone number, photos and reviews that appears beside the map when someone searches your name. For a local trade it often matters more than the website. I set it up with you — Google verifies the owner, usually by postcard or a phone call, so you have to be there for that part.
Do you only do trades?
It's what I'm set up for — plumbers, electricians, HVAC, roofers, landscapers, painters, cleaners, movers, general contractors. A business whose website changes twice a year is one I can look after properly at $99. If you run a restaurant or a shop with stock that moves daily, call me anyway and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit.
Who am I dealing with?
Me, every time. I'm a programming student, I build every site myself, and I answer my own phone. No account manager, no ticket queue.
